Does "We'll keep your resume on file," really mean anything?

It means your resume will be placed in a folder made of cardstock paper and stored with other items placed in a similar container (or whatever they use for a filing system in that particular office). 



Whether or not that file is ever opened again prior to being purged is an answer to a different question, one that only someone within that office could answer, if they can answer it at all . . .

Me?  I'd keep looking.
